Papa Joe’s Avon
In 1957, Joe Haboush created a small carry-out pizza place on Lafayette Road in Indianapolis. From this small “Hole in the Wall” restaurant, Papa Joe’s was born. Soon Papa Joe’s grew from the small pizza inn, into a sit-down, relaxing place to enjoy a variety of Italian food. Since the beginning, Joe offered his customers a cozy, homey atmosphere where couples could listen to the jukebox at their tables and kids could spin on the front counter stools. From the start, Papa Joe’s was known for its superior pasta sauces, homemade five cheese lasagna, and the Works Salad. Joe’s family restaurant has grown over the years, and as with all families, the kids have moved on to continue the legacy.
George Haboush is Joe’s son, and in June 1990 he brought his father’s special sauces and recipes to his own restaurant, Papa Joe’s Jr. George brought some of the best loved recipes from Papa Joe’s to Avon, and expanded the menu to include authentic, hand-rolled calzones, chicken marsala, and a variety of daily specials. Papa Joe’s Jr. is best known for its outstanding service, large portions, friendly atmosphere, and of course, exceptional Italian food. George and his family invite you and your family to their home.
